Weather has been playing havoc in all parts of the country recently. Whether it is rain, tornados or flooding, something seems to be affecting just about every region. One of the big problems for many rural people is having their only roadway washed out by some of these huge rain storms.

ERE recently ran into this situation and the question was, how can you turn this,

into a workable solution that allows a local farmer to leave his property? In this case the answer was installing a portable bridge solution that allows them to easily cross the river and in this case is also capable of supporting the heavy equipment commonly found on a farm.

Winter Bridging – Temporary Bridge For Fire Management

ERE Logistics just took on a project with Parks Canada to install a temporary bridge for them in Banff National Park.  Despite some rather cold weather and some huge delays involving crossing some busy railway tracks the installation was flawless.

The last day of the install we were dealing with -25 Celsius temperatures, but other than slowing down the installation itself, it showed how we can install in everything from desert conditions with extreme heat to Canadian winters with extreme cold.

The final install was a 137 foot bridge which will be left in place for three months to assist in fire management for the Parks people. Once they are finished we will come back in, remove the bridge and other than tire tracks and some over turned stones there will be essentially zero impact on the environment and nothing left behind.

Aerospace Conference in Kananaskis & The ERE S80T

It’s finally here, the Aerospace Conference & Industry Trade Show at the Delta Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta starts today at 2:00 (Oct 12th, 2010) and runs until Thursday October 14th.

This years focus is on “Strategies for Success” and Richard Richter (President of ERE Logistics) will be one of the presenters Wednesday October 13th at 11:00.

The organizers also asked Richard to bring one of his portable scissor bridges along which has been set up outside the hotel. Here are some of the pictures to give you an idea.

This will be a great opportunity for anyone interested in finding out more about dealing with the Defence Industry in Canada or anyone looking for more information about ERE Logistics and their portable bridge systems.

This last picture shows a section of the bridge with the new hand rails added for foot traffic. This has been an excellent addition and helps make our product even more suitable for emergency bridging solutions.

The ERE S80T Is Also Great For the Environment!

With saving our environment becoming more of a priority in everyone’s eyes, once again the ERE Logistics portable scissor bridge system comes to the rescue. Our design leaves almost a zero footprint when we use a single span to cross an area.

Below is a quote from Richard Richter President of ERE Logistics:

“If you’re using a single span of 40 feet or less, the impact is zero – you don’t even know we were there. You’ll see tire tracks going to the crossing, and then there’s tire tracks on the other side…If it’s over 40 feet, we have to put the support legs down, but that’s maybe 10 percent of the disturbance of walking a backhoe COMPARABLE through it – the leg comes in contact with the bottom and kicks up some sediment, and that’s all.”

It gets even better, since you aren’t making an impact on the environment, you also save the costs normally associated with the cleanup after the fact. Often this is overlooked when looking at the initial costs, but definitely becomes an issue when looking at the big picture.

Emergency Bridge Solutions – The ERE S80T Portable Bridge

As I read all the stories about forest fires raging in places like California, B.C. and Russia, I cannot help but think how incredibly helpful our flatrack scissor bridge would be. Quite often in these forested areas, the quickest path from A to B is a straight line, but due to terrain issues that straight line distance can often be tripled, quadrupled or even more in distance (and even longer in travel time due to rugged driving conditions.

Well with our portable bridge system, we could span some of the creeks, rivers, even normally impassible gaps saving hours of travel time, potentially millions in costs when it comes to protecting homes and property and untold amounts in man hours as crews could get to the heart of the fires so much quicker.

Aerospace Conference & Industry Trade Show

Big news for ERE Logistics and anyone interested in seeing the ERE S80T on display. Aviation Alberta in cooperation with the Canadian Defence Industry Association  & Alberta Finance and Enterprise is holding an important conference  in Kananaskis October 12-14, 2010.

The big news is we have been asked to attend and even more interesting we will be part of the Industry Panel that will discuss what a Canadian company needs to be more competitive in our global market. This is a great opportunity for ERE as we will have face to face access to several federal agencies and private sectors organizations who may not be aware of the ERE S80T portable bridge system.

As part of our attendance we will also have one of our trucks in place with a section of the scissor bridge on display. Here is a picture to give you an idea.

ERE Logistics

ERE Logistics is an Alberta company specializing in portable bridging systems. Their ERE S80T portable bridge system was designed for up to 90 ton loads and deploys off of a flat rack system designed to maximize space and functionality of vehicles.

A single 20 metre section can be installed from the back of the launch vehicle and is vehicle traffic ready in approximately 30 minutes making it the fastest portable bridge deployment system currently out there. Even more important, additional sections can quickly be attached expanding the bridge indefinitely to cross larger spans.

With minimal impact on the environment this bridging system is well adapted for anything from short term bridge replacement to military use in the field for when you absolutely have to get there from here!

What Are Flatrack Systems?

This is a fairly common question that pops up and once people understand it, the value of being a flatrack product grows considerably.

Simply put flatrack is a standardized logistics supply program based on the Palletized Load System (PLS) used by the US Army since 1993. By using a standard configuration of a truck, a payload trailer and removable cargo units referred to as flatracks, vehicles are no longer limited to single use.

In the field a truck can unload one cargo, pick up another entirely different payload and be off in no time. With the ERE S80T being part of this PLS standard you can be ensured that you have a proven system for deliverability and an assurance that the system, replacement parts and ability to transport these bridges anywhere will be around for a very long time.
